The Five Finger Rule

Put up a finger for each word you don’t know.

Five Finger Rule

The number of fingers raised on your hand tells you something about the book.

1 Finger

1 finger means that you know almost all of the words. Enjoy the story!

2 Fingers

2 fingers means that it’s just right. Enjoy the story!

3 Fingers

3 fingers mean that it’s challenging, and you might need some help. Try it!

4 Fingers

4 fingers means that it’s very challenging. Read it with someone.

5 Fingers

5 fingers up means that it’s too hard. Save it for later.

Now that you have completed the Five Finger Rule, make sure the story or information is appropriate for your age.

If you need help figuring this out, ask an adult.
